Description
Prehistoric pottery is an incredibly detailed process of construction. Each pot is constructed with native clays next to important archaeological sites. We then slurry and age the clay for a month and proceed to construct the vessel using a traditional paddle and technique. Once the pot is constructed and fully dry we will fire it in reduction or oxidation. Reduced pots are painted with sunflower pigment and fired black on grey. Oxidized pots are fired in an open atmosphere and bring out the orange iron colors in the clay once fired. Please allow 1 – 2 months build time.
